Canon RF 50mm f/1.8 STM Lens

The RF 50mm f/1.8 STM is the most affordable way to see what a fast prime can do on an EOS R camera. At just 160g and 40.5mm long, it adds almost nothing to the camera, yet its f/1.8 aperture gathers far more light than a kit zoom and separates subjects with soft, natural background blur.

On full-frame it is a classic standard lens for everyday scenes, street and environmental portraits; on APS-C bodies such as the R50 and R10 it becomes an 80mm-equivalent portrait lens. An aspherical element keeps images sharp, and close focus of 0.30m with 0.25x magnification handles food, flowers and small products.

Its STM drive keeps focus transitions quiet in video, and the 43mm filter thread keeps filters inexpensive. Light, sharp and simple, it is the easiest second lens to add to almost any EOS R kit.
