The LP-E19 is the high-capacity battery for Canon’s flagship bodies, the cameras built for international sport, news and wildlife assignments where a dead battery is not an option. It powers the EOS-1D X Mark II and Mark III as well as the mirrorless EOS R3 and EOS R1.
Rated at 10.8V and 2700mAh, about 10 percent more than the LP-E4N it succeeded, it can be recharged roughly 500 times and reports detailed battery information in the camera’s menu. It also fits earlier professional bodies designed for the LP-E4N, such as the EOS-1D X and 1D Mark IV.
It charges only in the LC-E19 charger; the older LC-E4 and LC-E4N chargers will not accept it. For long sports days and multi-day assignments, a second LP-E19 lets one pack charge while the other stays in the camera. Flagship bodies draw heavily during long bursts, continuous EVF use and video, so a fresh spare is cheap insurance against missing the decisive moment at the end of a long event.
