Canon PowerShot SX740 HS Digital Camera (Black)

Superzoom compacts earn their place on holidays, safaris and school events where one camera has to do everything. The PowerShot SX740 HS packs a 40x optical zoom, from 24mm wide to 960mm telephoto equivalent, into a body 39.9mm thick and 299g, small enough for a jacket pocket.

That reach brings distant wildlife, stage performances and architectural details into the frame, and optical image stabilization helps keep handheld shots steady even at the long end. For fast moments the camera shoots at up to 10 fps, or 7.4 fps with continuous AF, and its 20.3MP sensor and DIGIC 8 processor handle everyday light well.

Video records in 4K 30p, cropped from the center of the sensor, and Full HD up to 60p. The 3″ screen flips up 180° for selfies and group shots, and Wi-Fi with Bluetooth links to the Canon Camera Connect app for quick sharing. The NB-13L battery is rated for about 265 shots, or 370 in Eco mode.
