Canon’s LP-E6 battery family has powered its enthusiast and professional bodies for more than a decade, from the EOS 5D and 6D series through to the mirrorless EOS R5, R6 and R7. The LC-E6 is the dedicated single-bay charger for all of them, accepting the original LP-E6, the LP-E6N and the higher-capacity LP-E6NH.
Charging is simple: slot the pack in and the status lamp shows progress until it is full. Canon quotes about two and a half hours for a fully drained LP-E6 and around three hours for the larger LP-E6NH at room temperature, with input from 100 to 240V. Its 8.4V, 1.2A output comes from a compact 69 x 33 x 93 mm body weighing roughly 110g, light enough to live permanently in a kit bag.
Working photographers often rotate two or three batteries through a long session, which makes a second charger worth having so packs can be refilled in parallel overnight. Using Canon’s own charger also keeps your batteries within the charging conditions they were designed and tested for.
