Fast ultra-wide zooms have traditionally been large and expensive, and the RF 16-28mm f/2.8 IS STM brings a constant f/2.8 aperture to a 445g lens that measures 91mm when retracted for travel. It covers the wide end of a kit for landscapes, architecture, interiors, night skies and vlogging, at a size that suits bodies like the EOS R8 and R6 Mark III.
Optical stabilization rated at 5.5 stops is rare at this focal length and makes handheld low-light interiors and walking video far steadier; combined with in-body IS on compatible cameras, coordinated control reaches up to 8 stops at the center. A lead-screw STM drive keeps focusing near-silent during recording.
Two aspherical and four UD elements keep straight lines clean and suppress color fringing, and close focus of 0.2m at 28mm with 0.26x magnification lets you exaggerate foreground subjects for dramatic perspective. A 67mm filter thread accepts standard ND and polarizing filters.
