Canon EF 100mm f/2.8L Macro IS USM Lens

Few lenses are as versatile in a working kit as a 100mm macro. The EF 100mm f/2.8L Macro IS USM reproduces subjects at true life size, 1:1, from 0.3m, revealing the texture of a gemstone, the eye of an insect or the stitching on a product, and it doubles as a flattering portrait lens at normal distances.

Its Hybrid IS corrects both the angular shake and the shift movement that ruin handheld close-ups. Canon rates it at about four stops at normal distances, three stops at 0.5x and two stops at 1x, enough to make handheld macro realistic in good light.

A UD element controls chromatic aberration in the macro range, a nine-blade circular aperture renders soft backgrounds, ring-type USM delivers fast, quiet focusing, and the L-series construction is dust and moisture resistant. It mounts directly on EF DSLRs, and owners of mirrorless EOS R cameras can use it via the EF-EOS R adapter.
